Nijhoom Island of Chitra Deer
Nijhum Island, a small island in Noakhali district. There are numerous chitra deer in the national park there. There is not so much Chitra deer in any other forest of the country. Many birds can be seen on this island. Take a look at the pictures in the beautiful scene.
Char Osman
It is a small island rising in the mouth of the Bay of Bengal at the southern part of Hatia upazila. It is said that, after a person named Osman settled the island with his buffalo bath, it was known as 'Char Osman'. Later the name is Nijhum Island. This island, with four major islands of Bala Charon, Kamalar Char, Char Osman and Char Muri, and a few small chars. The island is about nine kilometers long north-south and about seven kilometers wide east-east.
Breathable forest
There is a breathtaking forest on the Nijhum Island. In the 70's, the forest department planted the Keora, Vada National Breathwood tree in the island. Those plants have now become a huge giant. Nijhum Island got the status of national park in 2001.
Chitra deer
In 1974, four pairs of Chitra deer were released from the Sundarbans for the first time. Due to the spread of these four deer species, the number of deer in the forest is now more than twenty thousand. Chitra deer is the main tourist attraction of Nijhum Island.
Chief creature
Chhita Deer, the chief animal of the Nijhum Island National Park. In addition to this, there are more orchids, mecha tigers, khakshiyal etc.

River erosion
Due to river erosion, the forest of the northern part of the Nijhum Island National Park is dissolved. In the last three years, a large part of this jungle has disappeared in the river.
Chowdhury canal
